Here at on board training we offer, what are probably, the best under-age driving facilities for young drivers from age 12!
NEW DATES for our Under Age Driving at Ingliston, Edinburgh are now available book now to avoid disappointment. Sundays 7th & 21th February and 7th March 2010 .
We have been conducting under-age driving lessons in Hamilton Racecourse for seven years now and are pleased to announce FOR 2009 the availability of our new additional venue for under age driving lessons in the Edinburgh area where our young drivers can improve their driving skills even further.
STOP PRESS! Thursday 10th December 2009, incredible driving test result for on board training driving school, as instructor Joe Hughes makes it our 8th ZERO fault driving test pass. This fantastic effort from Joe and his student, which was a 1st time pass, shows how we, along with our instructors are continuing to push our own instructing and coaching ability, and for the students to be better prepared for the DSA driving test and to drive to their best ability as we continue to strive to improve on road safety generally. This test pass was at Airdrie test centre and the DSA reckon that only 1 in 10,000 tests pass with ZERO faults and now having had 8 of them, our instructors are performing well above the average instructors.
We can now offer full licence holders a VXR8 on-road driving experience, Advanced Lessons or Pass Plus in a VXR8. This will be available to drivers from the age of 17 years. This is something a driver can participate in 1:1 with our instructor or may want to share with friends or family.
For those interested the VXR8 is a 6.2L V8 engine with 430bhp and 0 to 60mph in 4.9s and the car can be viewed in red here or in white here . A taster driving session in the VXR8 is available from £25 and a full hour is £60 with half and full day sessions available as well.
Watch out for info on this site re advanced bookings being taken for Pass Plus and Advanced Lessons in the VXR8 ! Please note: At the moment underage driving is not available in the VXR8 6.2L High Performance car, although we can offer passenger rides to demonstrate advanced driving.
We are looking for instructors for immediate start in several different areas in Scotland, including Edinburgh. Call us to find out if your area is one of them.
We are also looking for a full-time Instructor for Automatic Lessons with the experience to
cover a large area and knowledge base to maintain high pass rates for normal weekly lessons and intensive courses. A competitive franchise rate with high earnings potential is offered and can be with the instructors own quality car or our New Toyota Auris 1.4d

This is Brian's 3rd zero fault driving test, having achieved them at Ayr, Hamilton and Shieldhall DSA Test Centres.

Fantastic intensive driving course and test result as on board training get 3rd zero fault driving test this year and the 2nd one for Brian Gray, making it 5 zero fault passes for on board training. This is a credit to Brian and his student to achieve this result on an intensive driving course.
Fantastic driving lessons and test result 2 in 2 days! on board training driving instructor Pamela Killen gets her first student driving test pass with zero driving faults at Hamilton driving test centre on Saturday 17th May 2008, making it 4 zero fault driving test passes for on board training. This is a credit to Pamela and her student to achieve this result. Pamela is another on board training driving instructor who has received all her driving instructor training from on board training.
on board training, driving instructor Colin Pettigrew makes it a 'hat trick' for on board training! Thursday 15th May 2008 saw Colin get his first student to pass with a ZERO fault test at Shieldhall Test Centre. This is the third time on board training Instructors have had a student pass the learner driving test with ZERO faults marked on test. The DSA reckon a ZERO fault test may only occur on 1:10,000 tests. The other instructors to achieve this with on board training are Brian Smith co-founder of the driving school and Brian Gray who received all his training from on board training. This is a credit to Colin and his student who have worked hard to achieve this well deserved pass, reflecting the standards expected of on board training students when presented for test.

We don't take on just any driving instructor but are prepared to give those with the correct ambition and attitude the opportunity to aspire to the standards we have come to expect.
We are currently urgently looking for driving instructors who have what it takes to be part of our driving school team. Qualified and trainee driving instructors will be considered with own car, or a fully franchised car can be provided. Two instructors are required for immediate start, in the general North & South Lanarkshire areas. We are starting an Instructor waiting list for future vacancies as we continue to expand in all areas. Do you have what it takes to become an on board training driving instructor?

When you take driving lessons with on board training driving instructors, we expect them to complete assessment sheets and a progress report for each of your lessons as recommended by the Driving Standards Agency. Where time permits, several mock tests should also be carried out before you attend for your driving test. This is all valuable to your learning and progress & is a service not given by many other driving schools. In fact a few local schools try to copy what we do!
Recently we had a 70 year old lady passing her driving test in Hamilton in a manual car. Before starting with on board training her previous driving instructor suggested she should try an automatic car or even give up!
