STOP PRESS! We have now got our 11th ZERO fault driving test pass. Saturday 15th January and Instructor Tony Togher makes it our 11th ZERO fault test pass (and Tony's 3rd having had 2 before joining OBT) with student Joanne Penman at Falkirk test centre. This fantastic effort and result shows how we, along with our instructors are continuing to push our own instructing and coaching ability, and for the students to be better prepared for the DSA driving test and to drive to their best ability as we continue to strive to improve on road safety generally. The DSA reckon that only 1 in 10,000 tests pass with ZERO faults and now having had 11 of them, our instructors are performing well above the average instructors.

While we take great pride in our customer service, we must stress that we are not a charity and the terms and conditions of our services, especially for our under age driving, regarding cancellations and notice required are quite clear for both venues, (namely we operate a cancellation policy whereby once the lessons are booked and paid for, at Ingliston, no refunds are given for cancellations or no shows by the student and at Hamilton it is a 5 clear day cancellation policy for changes but no refunds are given). In particular, if you pay for a lesson and then find out that you cannot attend for whatever reason, we cannot and will not give a rebook or refund due to your circumstances or inability to attend, as we are still required to pay the instructors for their time as well as hire of the venue. We do state that someone else can attend in place of the original participant as long as we are notified of this. We will also do our best to fill your space as an option but there is no guarantee we will be able to do this, especially at very short notice.
We deal with several thousand on road and under age customers each year and yet we do get a small number of customers or parents who think we should abdicate them of responsibilities in relation to meeting their appointment with our instructors whether it is due to a change of mind or circumstances or even poor planning in how to find us, and for us to be out of pocket financially for their non-attendance. The cancellation policy we have is reciprocated both ways between, on board training, our franchised instructors and our customers.

Friday 9th April 2010 instructor Mike Stanners makes it our 9th ZERO fault driving test pass. Fantastic effort from Mike and his student Jack Montgomery, which was a 1st time pass.
Subject to instructor availability we can cover areas further afield throughout the Central Belt of Scotland and students taking advantage of our residential courses have come from all over the United Kingdom. We have also had a number of international students who have taken our UK familiarisation course enabling them to pass a driving test and obtain a full UK driving licence.

Here at on board training we offer all areas of car driver training and specialise in what is probably, the best under-age driving facilities for young drivers from age 10!
We have been conducting under-age driving lessons in Hamilton Racecourse for eight years now and are pleased to continue with our additional driving venue for under age driving lessons in Ingliston in the Edinburgh area where our young drivers can improve their driving skills even further.
Thursday 10th December 2009, excellent driving test result for on board training driving school, as instructor Joe Hughes makes it our 8th ZERO fault driving test pass. This fantastic effort from Joe and his student, which was a 1st time pass, shows how we, along with our instructors are continuing to push our own instructing and coaching ability, and for the students to be better prepared for the DSA driving test and to drive to their best ability as we continue to strive to improve on road safety generally. This test pass was at Airdrie test centre and the DSA reckon that only 1 in 10,000 tests pass with ZERO faults and now having had 8 of them, our instructors are performing well above the average instructors.
We can now offer full licence holders a VXR8 or a Golf R on-road driving experience, Advanced Lessons or Pass Plus. This will be available to drivers from the age of 17 years. This is something a driver can participate in 1:1 with our instructor or may want to share with friends or family.
We are looking for instructors for immediate start in several different areas in Scotland, including Edinburgh. Call us to find out if your area is one of them. We are also looking for a full-time Instructor for Automatic Lessons with the experience to cover a large area and knowledge base to maintain high pass rates for normal weekly lessons and intensive courses. We don't take on just any driving instructor but are prepared to give those with the correct ambition and attitude the opportunity to aspire to the standards we have come to expect.
We are currently urgently looking for driving instructors who have what it takes to be part of our driving school team. Qualified and trainee driving instructors will be considered with own car, or a fully franchised car can be provided. Two instructors are required for immediate start, in the general North & South Lanarkshire areas. When you take driving lessons with on board training driving instructors, we expect them to complete assessment sheets and a progress report for each of your lessons as recommended by the Driving Standards Agency. Where time permits, several mock tests should also be carried out before you attend for your driving test. This is all valuable to your learning and progress & is a service not given by many other driving schools. In fact a few local schools try to copy what we do!
Recently we had a 70 year old lady passing her driving test in Hamilton in a manual car. Before starting with on board training her previous driving instructor suggested she should try an automatic car or even give up!
